The State Library User Organisations’ Council Inc. (SLUOC) brings together professional and community organisations in the state of Victoria, Australia, which promote and facilitate the study of history, genealogy, heritage and architecture. The members of these organisations use the State Library on a regular basis and care for its future as an important cultural institution. The purposes for which the Association is established are listed under the ABOUT US menu.
Some of the activities in which SLUOC is involved in order to carry out its goals include: bi-monthly committee meetings to discuss current issues with the Library, seminars, regular meetings with the Chief Librarian and other Senior Library Staff. We also meet with Government and Opposition personnel to lobby for more Library funding and resources.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2015 seminar, e-Publishing and Public Libraries: Challenges and Opportunities. We are grateful to the presenters for making their material available for our website: see PAST SEMINARS.
Our next seminar will be held in 2016 during Melbourne's annual Rare Book Week (14 - 24 July). The date will be confirmed soon. The topic will be "Keeping the Original" and will be of interest to librarians, archivists and community groups.
